Join us as we venture into a
creative and just future!
We are thrilled that you decided to drop in and engage with our work!
My name is Winston Huggins. I am an artist, teacher, educator, creator and innovator. I have a desire to create art and teach art with a justice-based lens.
My Optimalart™ logo, which is based on the Primary Colors, is created and trademarked in 1983 when I worked in Nigeria teaching Communication Studies at the Ogun State Polytechnic.
I wanted to use Primary Colors to create my logo to represent Optimalart™ Learning as the simplification of art studies, which is about using primary colors only to get what you want in all other colors, thereby creating OPTIMAL art, and the principal thinking that you don’t need more than you have in order to create what you need. Lessons in life! When you mix two of the Primary Colors together, you can always get a Third Color and that will then become a Secondary Color. I look forward to sharing my passion for art, learning and justice with you!
In the dynamic, combined realm of art and education, British-born artist and educator Winston Huggins stands as a gentle soldier dedicated to the transformative power of creativity and change. His journey, adorned with vibrant strokes of persistence, is ultimately about sparking innovation!
At the core of his philosophy lies the concept of Optimalart™ including Abstract Realism™ and Mark Making Technology™ which is a deeply personal belief in the uniquely-human ability of transferring and recording ideas and thoughts onto exterior surfaces, thereby providing the ability for human knowledge to grow and be shared and preserved.
Mark Making Technology™ has garnered recognition from esteemed institutions in New York University and Stern Business Innovation Labs, who have acknowledged its contribution in the realm of art and education. It has also been formally implemented in a few educational settings, including the New York Department of Education.
Huggins' approach to art and education has received endorsement through a New York State Council on the Arts’ grant, and a patent for the Ultraportable Art Studio™ Art Component.
Optimalart© brings a holistic approach to education, blending artistic expression with traditional learning methodologies through Art Classes which feature Optimal Art UltraPortable Studios along with Abstract Realism Classes in Portraiture and Landscape and Still Life.
